Maybe it's a great camera, but unable to get it working at all. Installation software is really horrible, manual is even worse. Can't Sony hire someone who speaks/writes English? Install software is very strange, they don't understand the conventions/basics of writing a Windows application...really disappointed and frustrated.

This is a very easy to install network camera. It was up and running in 20 minutes in my small home office.
I am using the camera in a 300 sqf room. The picture will be overexposed when the camera is facing to a window which is a common problem with most of cameras. It has some nice features like the motion detection and alert by email. Be aware of the fact that you need to run the cat5 and the power cable to the camera. Definitely recommended.

I've recently upgrade my usb webcam to a Sony M1 because of the features and performance I've read on a few websites. I've learned that the technology Sony put into this camera comes from their professional line of camera products. So, I decided to purchase one to test out. The picture quality is far more superior than a $99 webcam I used to have. I love that it has a recording software w/ audio. I purchased the M1 model, but they also have a wireless version M1W and a pan and tilt model M3 and M3W. I'm currently looking into purchasing 3 more cameras to complete my system. I give this camera a 5 star for it performance.

This is a terrible, terrible product. I have had problem after problem with it. It now sits idle on my desk. Just search for the product problems in Google and you could spend a week reading the forums on it. I will never buy another MPIO device.

I purchased the digitalway mp3 player and it "locked up" after a months use. Ireturned it and got another and it locked up . The store gave me a third and it did the same. The company does not respond when notified.

I bought this a year and a half ago. Midway into using it the software program kept on freezing up and crashing. You would get a few songs on this thing, and then it would erase them while trying to add more. It isn't drag and drop, making it impossible to add songs without this faulty program.

Don't get an mp3 from a company that cannot provide good support. All their firmware, etc. for this product does not work.

Come on Motorola, you can do better..this model would make good for the kids in the yard to play with. Range is 1/2 mile if your lucky.. Need to change the range distance to that and get that 5 mile range of the package and spec sheet. Very discouraged with this model..

Actually can get up to ten miles line of sight transmission. In the woods, you get about two to three miles (depending on how thick). But of course they don't go over or through mountains like any idiot should know.

This product works very well if used in the manner in which it was designed.

Boaters, this is not a marine radio, and don't expect the Coast Guard, Sea Tow, or even other boats to be monitoring these channels. Today's marine VHF radios are small enough for even a Jet-Ski or the smallest dinghy and have appropriate waterproofing.

If you want to cover a farm, country club or large industrial or office park, spend the extra money on a proper business radio. Also, wherever possible, a vehicle-mount (truck, tractor, golf cart) radio with the right antenna will reach much farther and sound much better than anything hand-held.

Who should buy this radio? Skiers and snowboarders, bicyclists, hikers, campers, hunters, any groups of people who may tend to get separated beyond shouting range. Video production, stage and ligthting crews who can find this a low-cost, easy-to-use substitute for Clear-Com systems. Obviously they will need to use headsets to keep the sound from getting into the audience or audio track, and those who need to keep their hands free, like video camera operators will prefer the VOX headset. It would have been nice if they sold these as a package, which would be cheaper than buying them separately.

This type of signal is by nature for line-of-sight transmission only, and not like CB, and will not go around large mountains or "skip" like lower-frequency radio signals.

This radio is built ruggedly with the kind of quality we got familiar with on the older, bulkier Talkabouts. As for the menus, I would suggest you keep the manual close at hand until you get the hang of navigating though the commands. I like the pushbutton-release belt clips.

This NiCd-powered version of these radios came with a handy charging stand and works well as long as you remember to charge it up before using. :-) Those of you who don't like NiCd batteries can choose the AA-powered version, which Amazon also sells, and get a nice set of NiMH batteries and charger, and skip alkaline batteries.

Overall, this radio is very worthwhile and satisfactory.

This camera is exceptional. I am not going to go into it all but I can tell you it's clear, colors are true, and night vision pretty darn good. The resolution is much better than a PC camera. The biggest problem is that this is not USB capable, therefore you have to plug it into a PCI card. It is a hassle trying to get the software to notice this device...I'm using a PC-DVR-4 Card & software and they do not talk well together. Once you do get it to work, don't try to uninstall the software, or your hassles start all over again. They need to develop the software and plug & play behind this which is the biggest disappointment of all.

This thing works great as long as youi have ideal lighting, meaning complete sunlight. I did not expect it to work perfect in the dark, but in a well lit area I would have thought it would at least provide some type of image that you can see. Truth is that unless yoiu have plenty of natural light this thing won't work at all. They should tell you this on the box, but instead they have a picture indicating that it will in fact work in a dark room.

I purchased this back in January 2006. It is a great system and works with my existing X10 Home Automation. It was plug and play basically. Nothing magical. I purchased it to monitor my baby but the image in low lighting looks more like the ultrasound of our baby! You can see a spot and can hardly make out the head and body etc... Too grainy. With moderate lighting I can make out the body better. For monitoring outdoors it does the job no issues.
For the fun of it, record your child in bed on tape and then pick up the child while dressed in complete black. Then one day when you and your spouse are watching the TV to monitor your child, without your spouse knowing, play the recording as if it were live. See their reaction when your child is picked up by a stranger in your own home.

The remote is a multi-function remote and should you buy that on its own you would pay over $20.
BEWARE if you have a 2.4Ghz phone at home. This system shares the same frequency and you WILL get interference due to just having your phone plugged in anywhere in the house. I found I was able to minimize the interference by carefully adjusting the receiver's antenne.
All such systems have the same frequency as far as I know and have tried.

I gave it 2 less stars due to the quality of video indoors. Otherwise no complaints.

I was surprised at how easy this was to set up. I only needed one camera for the outside of my house and it works really well.
