I bought this at a sports shop for about $9. I then took it cross country skiing, so not a very rigorous activity. The radio couldn't stay on one station - rather, it would switch from station to station on its own, even ones that were just static. It does not do what it's supposed to.

The scanning feature is a nuisance, as it won't stay on one station very long.

The instruction booklet is not helpful at all, and neither is the description of how the radio works on Amazon.

The sound's not bad, if you can stand the frequent switching of stations.

I recommend getting another small radio for walking or jogging, even if it's more expensive.

This is a great item, because if you ride your bike you can take it with you and listen to your favorite stations! It's like a bike radio.

The Jensen folks MUST own stock in a battery company. I listen to the radio about 30 minutes a morning, 5 days a week....2 1/2 hours. IF I'm careful, keep the volume down, I can get about 3 weeks out of the radio before it dies. The old "GPX" radio it replaced would last MONTHS before the batteries died. Truthfully, I've started buying "bargain" batteries, which last almost as long...and don't cost 4.99 for a package. VERY disappoiinted.

What a waste of money. Terrible reception, hard to use, broke in a month or two.

I purchased this unit as a way to listen to music in the morning without blasting the stereo in my bedroom. However, when it arrived it only played music by pressing inward on the face of the devise. The instructions to program it were fairly complicated but fairly easy to follow. I've returned the product but have not yet received a refund.

My daughter is a Hello Kitty fan but her current different model clock radio is dying and she needs a new one. Rather than get the same one, I'm getting this one.

A couple of points about the two reviews on this item:

1. The warning label is required by law but nothing to worry about. Dr. Dean Edell covered this subject on his radio health show recently. His explanation was all soft cord insulation uses lead to soften it (i.e. allow it to bend), so this warning applies to all electrical products. Thank our government for requiring alarming warnings that we can't do anything about and that really don't impact our lives. California's prop 65, anyone?

2. To the second reviewer, you gave it a bad review because you don't like Hello Kitty? Why not just return it and exchange it for one you DO like instead?

What a waste of $[...] ....it worked poorly for a week or two and then my son dropped it and nothing has worked since....the buttons are too small so you have to help them and it is not durable made for the dora-age audience.

My daughter received this as a gift for Christmas. It didn't work so we exchanged it for another one. The radio gets no reception but it did play tapes for 2 days. Now the tape player is no longer working so it is useless. My daughter loves the prettty Dora picture on it but is upset once again that it doesn't work.

I got this boombox for my daughter's 3rd birthday. She's a big Dora fanatic and loves music so it seemed perfect. She enjoys it ok, but my 1 yr old boy really loves it. He likes to push the buttons and make the music stop and start. But that is the problem, just like all other reviewers have mentioned, the 3 control buttons are tiny and are crammed together making it very difficult to hit the tiny little play button that is crammed between the FF,Rev and a raised edge.

The unit works well enough to keep young children happy, but it is certainly not up to adult quality standards. Toughness-wise, it has stood up to my 1 yr olds abuse for 3 months without breaking.

It surprised me how difficult that it has been finding children's cassettes. Most stores sell CD's so I've had to find blank cassettes to copy their favorite CD's to.

To summarize, the kids like/love being able to carry their music around and to try to control on/off and volume. But I as an adult am dissappointed with the lousy button controls and mediocre quality.
