TV-DVD-Combination Reviews

I bought this from Amazon in December. At first it was great but it is slowly coming unglued. First the DVD stopped playing the audio. Now it won't even open. Then the power switch started acting up. Now the remote will only change the channel and I have to unplug it to turn it off. There are no service centers within 40 miles. I can't return it to Amazon. I doubt that I'll ever buy a large piece of electronics from Amazon for that reason. If I had bought it from a local retailer I could have probably still returned it. I would not recomend this combo. Mine apperars to have a personality disorder.

UPDATE 4-16-06 I was able to take it to the GEEK SQUAD at Best Buy. They did a warranty repair but said that they hade received several of these combo units by Toshiba for repair. Toshiba USUALLY makes a quality product but these combo units are full of bugs. Live and learn. I hope it lasts a while now.

I used to have a tower of electronics sitting on my kitchen table--the TV, VCR and the cable box and no DVD. Now it looks so much better with everything except the cable box in one unit, including a DVD player. It's very easy to operate and it was one of the only all-in-one units I found that was 14" with a reasonable price.

Most of the other small TVs I saw had speakers the size of a quarter. This on has them running the whole length of either side of the screen. The sound is more than adequate for my needs.

I tried the camera slots to view digital pix, but that was so much more cumbersome than just loading them onto the computer, that I don't think it's worth having as a feature.

This is a very solidly built product. The front panel has the usual audio/video inputs, plus a media card slot. The TV also has all the "bells and whistles" for timed programming and recording. The front panel also has all the buttons for the tv, vcr and dvd making it easy to make things work without the remote.The picture is great from any angle

Six months after purchasing the TV/DVD Combo we had a problem with DVDs being stuck and not ejecting out. We would have to try numerous times to get a DVD to eject. Finally one was stuck and would not come out. When we finally got it out we discovered that Philips had installed parts that seemed to be second rate at best. Since it was past the 90 day warranty period Philips would not replace the part or the unit. It is the last Philips electronics unit I purchase.

We've only had the unit for two months now, but so far so good. Before purchase, I searched the internet high and low for reviews on this product, as well as other TV/DVD/CD under cabinet radios - and I really didn't find any product that had rave reviews. This one was most convenient to purchase, so I went for it, and have had no regrets to this point. Mounting was easy, directions pretty much straight forward. Ergonomics are acceptable. Sound is well above average, video quality slightly above average, AM reception weak, TV reception weak, I run cable to the TV and looks and sounds great. I like it!

We love the unit--it has wonderful sound. The picture is good. The whole screen swivels so you can watch the tv at different points in the room--this is unique to this manufacturer. The TV screen folds up nicely into the unit--so that the screen is flush to the unit. Another feature is that you can have the unit on with TV sound only (no picture). This may have cost a little more than our budget, but it was worth it. We use it in our kitchen>

Beware of Amazon when it comes to shipping of large objects.

Shipped twice, damaged twice, hardly any packing in the box at all and the box was pieced together. Not worth the free shipping or saving a few bucks. Too much trouble.

Toshiba MW24F52 24" Flat TV with DVD and VCR
I purchased this television less than two years ago at Sears. There is a problem with the screen. The top two inches of the screen appears to have white lines as though it is missing pixels. Also the DVD player only works occasionally.

This is my second Toshiba tv. It is a good value and picture is great. I will continue to purchase Toshiba products.

Okay, so I've only had this television for a few days now, but it really seems great so far. The picture is very superior to my much larger (39") tv, and it sounds great. I've stuck a number of DVDs in it, from various commercial sources, as well as some homemade ones, and they all play - in fact, I haven't found a format among any of my discs yet that it will not accomodate. The size is perfect for a second set, to go into a bedroom, for instance. It's a bit deeper than I imagined it would be, so that it completely fills the space I have for it, but it does fit nicely. I like that the set has jacks located both front and back - it's convenient, even though it adds to the busy look of the front. Buttons for power and DVD operation are on the set itself as well as the remote, which is a good size and pretty intuitive to use. With the included batteries, I was watching a movie within 5 minutes of opening the box. Setup was so easy, as is operation. The only complaint I have is that the buttons on the remote aren't glow-in-the-dark - that would really help out in a dark bedroom. Pretty minor complaint, overall, and I'd recommend this set to anyone.
